I’ve always loved to help other people, even as a little girl. It’s the most fulfilling thing in the world to see others have an improved quality of life and know that I had a hand in helping that happen. (Pun intended!)
The funny thing is, I had never considered massage as a career. I was constantly giving friends backrubs and working on their sore, stiff, and tight muscles. But I had never been to a spa. I didn’t know it was a career path. My husband (when we started dating, so my “future-husband”) asked me why I wasn’t a massage therapist. I had no idea!
With being so helpful to others, when I needed help myself, you’d think it would have been easy for me to ask. But it wasn’t easy at all!
For years I struggled with headaches, neck pain, and other problems. A host of medical problems made life less than comfortable (and sometimes downright excruciating and debilitating) from the time I was sixteen years old.
Eventually I was introduced to chiropractic (by my then future-husband), and then bodywork (again, by the love of my life), and then other forms of natural healing. I was hooked! Many of my own issues were resolved. Others were surgical cases that I finally had taken care of by some of the best physicians in the area. I wish I hadn’t waited so long.
I went on to receive extensive training in bodywork/massage therapy, meditation, and therapeutic exercise, and have enjoyed a career that allows me to help people just like you… people who are ready to ask for help.
I strongly believe in giving you the tools you need to carry the healing forward between sessions as well as providing compassionate, expert assistance while you’re in my office.
I am a Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Neuromuscular Therapist, Certified Laser Technician, Soft Tissue Specialist, Myofascial Release Therapist, Personal Trainer and Rehab Fitness Specialist, massage school faculty member/teacher, coach, Commissioner for the national accrediting agency specializing in massage therapy and aesthetics (COMTA), and more! I don’t focus on one aspect; I work to blend my knowledge into a truly individual visit for each patient. Because you deserve custom care, and you deserve to participate as a partner in your healing.
I learned two pieces of wisdom that I would like to share with you:
1) Never be afraid to ask for help. Why waste years of your life trying to “do it yourself” when you might potentially resolve the situation in a matter of weeks or months with an expert? If I had known that a simple series of gentle neck adjustments would be able to take me out of headache-hell, I would have done it YEARS before I finally did.
2) YOU are in control of a large part of your healing journey. Many people are suffering that don’t need to. But you do have to WANT to get better and be willing to do the work in order to do so. It may not be easy and you’re the only one who can determine if it’s worth your investment of both time and money. You have to be your own advocate. Get second opinions, consult multiple physicians or physical therapists, try massage therapists until you find one that has experience in a case like yours. Over the past 14+ years I’ve been able to blend many modalities and healing systems together to create individual plans for people just like you who are fed up with suffering and ready to start down the path to healing. You can book your New Patient Welcome Visit online (click “Book Now” at the bottom of any page) or call me to talk more about how I might be able to set your feet on that path.
