Lakewood Ranch Medical Massage has partnered with an insurance billing specialist to help serve our community better.
Manatee County employees who have chosen the Aetna My Choice plan often have excellent coverage for massage. Sarasota County employees may also, though their out of network deductible may be higher. Other area insurances vary widely depending on the plan.
To use your insurance at Lakewood Ranch Medical Massage for your massage therapy and manual therapy sessions, please send us a copy of the front and back of your card as well as a copy of your driver’s license as soon as you can, preferably a week before your visit. This allows us time to check your benefits as a courtesy to you.
Some plans may require you to get a prescription from your doctor. You will need to have your diagnosis codes on the prescription. Be sure they write a prescription for “manual therapy” code “97140” as “massage” is usually not covered. (The work we do at Lakewood Ranch Medical Massage is classified under manual therapy; insurance divides between neuromuscular/myofascial release vs relaxation massage.)
Many of our clients do NOT have insurance benefits. We know it’s frustrating to need a therapy to help you manage your chronic headaches or other issues and not be allowed to use the insurance you already pay for every month. Others have felt that way too. What they have found, though, is that paying out of pocket at Lakewood Ranch Medical Massage is one of the best investments they’ve made in their health.
